Jellyfish Communications were approached to carry out an upgrade of GMB unions Grove halls HQ in Wakefield data infrastructure.

From its existing outdated Category 5e to Category 6 B2ca cabling and a complete cabinet refresh. Additional works were added such as the replacement of the site’s yellowing old three compartmental trunking and the addition of extra power outlets throughout. This included upgrading the buildings consumer units.

After the removal and disposal of the existing cabling, the team fitted modern Marco trunking and power poles throughout the property.

We added over three hundred Excel Cat6 data points and Schneider power outlets with two new Cat6A to all of the existing Meraki AP’s on site.

Testing was completed using our Fluke testers and a detailed floor plan was completed for the customer with numbered data point and AP locations.

The main network cabinet and data outlets were labelled in an easy to follow format and all patch leads were replaced for new Cat6 following a colour coded plan.

Site maintenance were given training to be able to re-patch any devices and a detailed patching schedule provided for them to follow.

Jellyfish Communications will be providing a one-year standard maintenance cover on the full installation and stay in contact with the facilities team to assist in any issues or requests they may have.
